Thanks everyone for the replies. I just wish that I could determine, using the vin, whether the car has had the fix applied. The site that I used provided the response that I quoted and it is not at all clear what it means.

Hi, I have been looking at a nice low mileage manual 2009 A4 Avant with the 120hp 2.0Tdi engine. I have the vin number but when I have entered it into an Audi Emissions fix checker it says ""this vin is not part of the Audi settlement". Does this mean that the car has :- A. not had the fix or...
