thanks for your advice...I managed to get it in the garage on Monday last week, and funnily enough it was exactly what you said it was. All four coil thingies needed replacing, and some piping was leaking which they resealed.
I had bought it from the Jag dealership in Manchester, and it was still under warranty, but I just didn't trust them to not to do a temporary fix-it job, which would last till the warranty ran out. Hence I took it to the family run garage Ive used for years, and they did the job for me @ £280 all in.
