USB Music playback - why doesn't it move on to the next Album/Folder automatically?

Hi,

Just acquired a nearly new A3 8Y, and USB music playback is one of the number of things I'm underwhelmed by. I was expecting that when the MMI finished playing the current album, it would move on to the next one, just as it has been forever on all the other Audis I have owned, which is many, and this is how it works on my Allroad. On the other cars I could/can start playing at A, and just let it go through to Z.

However, on the A3, it seems to stop at the end of the current album, and force me to go back up the fiddly MMI interface and find another album to play, which I find very irritating.

Anyone know if I have missed a setting somewhere please? I have looked hard, but can't see anything.

Thanks!

The albums on my USB stick play all the way through from start to finish, it doesn't repeat the same album.

I think there is a "button" on the touch screen when you are playing the stick, which determines the playback method. Is it the button that shows a "circle" or "arrows", something like that? Try changing that button.

The round repeat button was a good steer thank you - after looking at the manual, this has three settings Off, Track and Playlist. There is no setting that enables it to move on to the next album. However the Playlist option at least leads on to...

Workaround: if I create a playlist containing all the albums on the USB stick it will play them from start to finish. If I've got to faff about and create playlists, I might as well create some better ones than just A-Z!

I will consider it a workaround for a rather strange and strange functionality, for which I will never forgive Audi for letting the software designer win over the user experience, but at least there is a way to do it.

This issue of repeating a folder or an Album on Audi MMI systems, seems to relate to all the MIB versions of MMI.

Using playlists, or playing the entire master folder, rather than selecting specific artist folders or albums, does allow "PLAY ALL" but it's nowhere near as nice as it used to be in the pre-MIB MMI systems.
