Hi, can anyone tell me if this MPG is normal - I know that it always differs to the official figures but this seem really low?

A long term efficiency of 32 mpg is below what the car is capable of, but it will depend on the trips that you are doing and your driving style. The good news is that it will improve as we get into warmer weather. My last few fill ups have seen between 38 and 43 mpg per tank (same engine with auto gearbox). There are lots of past threads on mpg if you search the forum.

Thanks for the reply, I was starting to think it could be a fault with he engine.

I suppose I am running 19 inch wheels that probably don't help!

I do a regular round trip of about 80 miles , some dual carriage way , ordinary roads and a few 20 mph zones in wales
i average about 48 mpg on this trip
im on 19 inch wheels as well

With MPH average that low it's normal to have not great MPGs. It tells you have lots of stops and slow and go's. You may know it's very fuel consuming to accelerate, stop and accelerate again a lot. With around 35 MPH average you'll get much different MPG figures too.

I'm interested to hear if you've had another car that did better MPG figures on the same route, and what powertrain it had.

I had the 1.5 tfsi in the 8v from 2019, manual and it had 152,000 kms on it when I traded it in last week, long term average over my 5 years of ownership was 6.2 litre per 100kms which works out at 45 mpg.

Looks like car used only in medium to heavy traffic conditions judging from the low average speed.
Confident if you do the same journey (in the middle of night) with little stops and free flowing roads, should be able to get high 30s / low 40s mpg. Is it a manual? If yes, then well no MHEV assistance either (eg...engine shut off when rolling to a stop). However yes, manual with 19 inch would give worst combo for fuel economy on the 1.5.

Hi JKP, I had a Mazda 3 2017 sport nav, 2.0 litre auto naturally aspirated and it was getting 35mpg long term.

My new Audi is auto mhev.

Good figures for that kind of powertrain. The 1,5 MHEV should still do better in same kind of driving. Have you got improved mpg since the first post? I also just noticed how few miles you've got in the clock. I had a significant drop in fuel consumption after 10 000 km mark with my previous car. The current one not so much, it's now got 15 000 kms and the long term mpg says 35, as it was more like 40 in my old car. But I've done much more just short trips with my current one than I did with the old so can't really say if there's difference or not. The MHEV function had changed between the model years so difference could be there.

I only bought the car at 1980 miles and is now at 2400 so haven't done many miles yet. It could that the engine just need to be settled in then it will be better.

I do live in London so I do short journeys unfortunately.

Question is, although they are the same engines do they differ from one another, some bad some good, luck of the draw I suppose?
