Well finally finished it all off today, left it running to get to temp as I replaced coolant sensor & thermostat aswell, all seemed ok, then comes 5.00 I go to leave work the EML came on, checked the code and was a advanced timing code.... I timed it twice and got another lad to check it...

So I finally fitted my Cambelt today, replaced water pump, thermostat & coolant sensor as well. I was a bit unsure of the timing last night so re did it and still seemed to me to be half a tooth out, but I put a socket down cylinder one which showed I was at tdc, so left it at that I started it...

Maybe its just my poor marking skills as its defo not a full tooth out, was a right pain fitting the belt tight as f.....k, what do you recommend, camshaft defo spot on, and when this is turned over and matched up again the socket in cylinder one is at the highest point, surely that means its at...

So Today at work the boss gave me a hour to start the Cambelt on my Audi a3 1.8t 2001 plate, so started stripping it all, everything removed with ease till I couldn't remove the engine mount so I turned the crank and marked up the camshaft at the timing point, then put a socket in cylinder one...

Oh really? um wouldn't I have lack of power if I had a leak it seems to be fine, ill have a check of it when im fitting the Cambelt don't have a smoke test machine at work so will have to do it the good old fashion way with a torch haha! surely if it was anything major ide have a code stored...
