Cheers for reply, need a bare head but have heard that you need new valves as once disturbed they tend to go wrong when the heads refitted and engines used. I got a 2001 facelift amk. I d'nt know enough about engines to explain the problem but the car is with Dave Turner in stonehouse, his sons...

Yea we def need a conclusion that works for all of us! The clutch switch has made mine better but is still not perfect which bugs the **** outa me. Cant believe audi said thats just the way it is, surely even the worst people at building cars wouldnt build them like that if they had a choice so...

Cheers for the part number, i had a look in the seat as best i could with a torch when i was home at the weekend, if i lifted the catch on the other side of the seat i could see the mechanism moving but couldn't see anything that the end of the plastic lever would slot onto? So am guessing that...

cheers, yea i thought i'd try contacting recaro, but shes snapped the lever at a point inside the seat that i cant actually see so am thinking i may need the whole mechanism that moves the seat. Havnt had a chance to get the seat out as yet and am working away at the moment which is a pain...

new clutch switch bought from audi, problem solved! They have bought out a revised clutch switch that looks nothing like the old one but should stop further issues in the future...i hope! cheers for the advice.

Just managed to listen to the vid, would def check cam chain tensioner. If it fails not good news at all.

dude i had a wierd noise on start up, i cant listen to your vid so excuse me if its a different noise. Mine was a slight rattle on start up then it went. after a bit of investigation it ended up being the cam chain tensioner. Not a cheap job! Hopeits not that.
