A guy in Newark, not too far from you.
He is the owner of Remap UK, there are franchises around the UK too I believe.
I sat in my car with him whilst he did it and he explained all the values and changes he was making.
I'd recommend him, but as that's my only ever remap I have nothing to compare...
Don't bother with a tuning box. I fitted a DTUK box on my B7 2.0tdi 140, it did increase the power a bit, but the fuel consumption seemed a bit erratic.
I stumped up for a custom remap, for the price if £150 I also had my EGR mapped out.
The difference was night and day, far more responsive...
Change it.
False economy not to, whist they have it in bits.
Next belt change could be 50k away. Do you want to have to change your water pump half way there?
No sorry, I've never heard of them.
Yup the sound of a V8 is great, but if you intend the tune, a turbo/supercharger is the way to go.
Welcome to Audi ownership btw.
Hi, I'm not far from you, just outside Swineshead. I have a B7 2.0tdi though, not an S.
Who have you been using for your services up until now? I do all my own servicing (except cam belt), and most of my repairs also. Anything I can't do I take to Mike Raw in Lincoln.
(now called Advanced...
Probably so, if you have a DPF.
I have one of the last B7s not to have one. 2.0tdi BRE 140 (remapped to 180).
The BRD (180) has a DPF and later B8 diesel engines too I believe
Why don't you just delete your EGR valve, inject Mr Muscle oven cleaner into the exhaust side of the turbo at every service and mix 2 stroke oil with your diesel on each fill up and save yourself money in the long run?
Your bracket is a real mess.
The best advice I can give is to remove it and fit a Westfalia one.
Keep it well lubed, and keep the red blanking cap in place when not being used
