Put it like this, a good driver in an S3 will be quicker than an average driver in an RS3.
Handling is simply about feel on the road and different people 'like' different traits and if you genuinely feel you are slowed by an S3s road handling then get on a track.
Bumps mid corner unsettle most...
I like others would get the oil changed however would it do any harm to not do it, very unlikely.
Plenty of cars out there have 2year scheduled oil services so the oil will not have gone bad sitting still but engines are designed to be used and seals lubricated etc so I would be more concerned...
Shouldn't the audi app also show service history?
I am sure it used to for my Audi but after a recent app update there is no service history shown .... which I find annoying!
If you can smell oil when stationary imo it is either blowing out the exhaust or leaking onto something hot...........probably the latter meaning you have a leak somewhere presumably under pressure if you can't see any drips.
Folks, does anybody know how to link the audi tracker (which I think is vodafone) in the car to the app?
I am not deliberately playing dumb (but am feeling it!) but have confirmation the tracker is active, i have the app but have no idea how to link them.
Thanks
^^ the current gen2 facelift does not due to the regs so the sweet spot is the my17-19 which did, option code was OP8 and I wouldn't buy an R8 without it. I have yet to hear an after market exhaust come close to the noise (ok after market can be noisier and defo much lighter but there is more...
^^ I went from a 2014 manual Audi S3 stage1 to a 2017 R8 with OE optional sports exhaust...........sounds proper dirty and well beyond any 5cyl could muster. Magnificent machine it is, i use mine all year in all weather, lives outside and averaging around 19mpg, can squeeze 25mpg on a cruise on...
^^ as a current R8 owner they are a superb car, so easy to drive slowly yet so ridiculously fast when needed yet more comfy than my S3 was.
the lack of sunroof yep agreed would be good to have one, space is an issue if you need any kind of space at all (I don't) but i can do a reasonable shop...
Its ironic isn't it, the R8 paddles are fine and work well (edit: just to be clear on the R8!) but I was looking into replacing them with Urus paddles as they shouldn't be plastic and should be a little bigger imo. Some paddles out there just look pants though.
In the US in particular loads of...
Isn't it irrelevant at 400+ bhp anyway, you aren't going to feel 15bhp but you would feel gearing if Audi changed that for example.
All about the cost of change, is the new one worth paying a premium over the one you have.........do you like touchscreens etc?
Likely out of the box to a road user...
I actually think you could have more fun is a less powerful less fast car.
As I have moved through cars/mbikes as I have got older the issue I have is that the faster/more capable a machine is the less pure enjoyment I can sometimes get. Any RS/S/R/AMG etc is more than good enough for road use...
As an R8 V10 owner i can confirm a double five pot sounds fantastic particularly with an oe sports exhaust :) Whatever the map, whatever the software nothing imo comes close to its naturally aspirated magnificence..........grunty off beat sounding low to mid range yet absolute race car scream...
Who cares.........want a faster accelerating car buy a faster accelerating car.
As for the price of that merc, way too much and imo simply not worth it. 4cyls, big turbo whoppee.
Maybe just me but i wouldn't change to an A class.........think the outside looks like a Focus and the screens on the inside aren't as nice as VC, 4 pot is a deal breaker to me (rumour is ALL AMGs going forwards will be 4s). Vast majority of people would scare themselves with oversteer...
Or just put it into neutral which is what I do if I know i will be sat for a while.
Like others I was an absolute manual man on my S3, I now have my first DSG and when not on a blat I prefer D to using my manual (particularly when the car and gearbox is cold.............car takes maybe 5miles to...
Not just you, I looked at various RSs/AMGs and whilst no doubt quick they just didn't feel like engines should imo, all too easy but never felt like the engine was loving it and feel strained at the top end.......long story short bought a 2yr old R8.........engine loves to rev and really kicks...
No finance involved.
Did everything remotely including agreeing a price, pads had already been done and when asked about the tyre tread left they said that they were below the audi approved threshold and would be replaced...........now obviously I don't really know if they had been done prior to...
As above bought my used R8 from Audi approved without seeing it (subject to a test drive and final viewing) and would do it again.
Salesman was great, 2yr manufacturers warranty ue to being Audi approved and less than 2years old and even replaced all four tyres and front pads due to them meeting...
On my R8 in dynamic it is smooth as silk when accelerating hard.
Only clonks I get are at lower speeds and partial throttle.
Kinda similar to going up a motorbike gearbox without using the clutch, seemless when on it but less so when pootling.
