DIS Clocks in a non DIS model

Hey guys,

Heres a mod I always wondered if it can be done. I know the 1.8T model has the trip computer which displays air temp, MPG, range etc on the clock dials. Can that be simply swopped into a non DIS model like the 1.6? I have the later spec 8L, which has got EPC, ESP etc.

Hi Mate, i dont think its as straightforward, im pretty sure you need to change the whole cluster and it needs a different loom as well...

Not 100%, but im sure someone will be along to advise shortly.

It will need to collect the info form somewhere so it can give you the info you want so you will need a loom and sensors

It would be cheaper to upgrade to a car with DIS as standard methinks.

Hmm so not as simple as I thought then

If thats the case I think it will get all the data from a different loom and do the calculations on the dial itself. Doubt I need any sensors as there should be all the info available already. Have to look into this, and compare the connectors at the back of the clocks between the models, and study some wiring diagrams. I work in the electronics industry so if it can be done, I'll find a way to do it Maybe even write a DIY guide along the way.

So for those whos got the DIS (1.8T/S3):

What does it display...?
All I know is:
Temp
MPG
Range till tank empty
Radio?

and its the outside temp btw
erm theres a thing with the some sort of timer/clock thing but i dunno what thats for
it shows the radio stations etc in the top half
