Well had my s3 detailed last week, then dropped it down to Andy at Lincoln Volkswagon Specialist in Lincoln early this week.

he quickly put an MOT on it as it was due, then it was quickly put on his spare ramp and the engine has been dropped out ready for build..

I will be updating this thread as soon as i have pics and news..

Well had call from Andy to say car had been stripped down yesterday so popped down

I know the engine has been stripped down today ready for block to be sent of early next week so we can fit the 2.0 stroker kit.

i love build threads.
so it was already tuned by mtm? what did they do? and what are your plans/goals with this mate?

As for car well i brought it last year.. (My 2nd s3) pretty much how it is now..

Engine wise MTM (QST) had put the turbo you see in pic on with different manifold external wastegate and downpipe.. also added there own software using like a piggyback ecu.. full miltek bar cats.. and injectors..

When i got it.. it didnt seem that lively, BUT its done 115k now and the conversion was done at 40k.. So i took it to andy last winter and sat down with him.. the wategate wasnt holding properly.. we then put a front mount on from AH.. sent ecu to revo and put there stage 3 software on..

I must admit the car did drive loads better.. did 13.6 at pod which i was happy with.. BUT as always you want more.. so again sat down with andy and talked about what could be done.. so that brings us upto present day..

I used to have a loony RS turbo (Old school I know) but this thing was 320bhp with no weight, which a guy called Ian howell built and is very well known in ford scene for building very powerful engines and really knows his stuff

So gave him a call and hes now going to sort a turbo for me..

Heading down today as i know engine is how completely in bits
 
Love threads like these, I'm thinking of taking my S3 to the same place for a service soon. Look's like they're good!

Don't suppose you know the price for a cambelt change?

your power hungry then lol. there is no such thing as enough power is there.
so it seems you'l have one well sorted s3 afterwards then. are you going for a gt30 or something like that?

Im intendin on keeping this one a long time and we are intending on doing as many shows as poss next year.. GT3071 will be going on...

Hello, mate. I was at santa pod when you did 13.6 Jan this year, me and a mate came up to you and spoke to you. you had issues with boost pipes poping off :) any how I hope you can make it better and faster but the downpipe doesn't look very easy flowing. the bend is way too sharp and a bit on a small side.
 
Hi mate

Yeah I remember u, not using this turbo.. works well dont get me wrong.. BUT no way give me 400+ bhp..

But fingers crossed ill be at pod again early next year along with andy who is doing the build in his golf running gt28..

Should have a well sorted S3 once its all finished, I would love to have the £££ to do similar :eek:(

I would be supprised tho if it is as quick as you RS turbo once its finished. I had a 1.9 230bhp fiesta RST a few years ago and since I havnt owned a car that comes close to how fast that thing was!! (once it had traction)

It was up alot puttin boxes in..

That car was animal and yes probably wont be as quick but nicer to drive however i do miss the old school fords
 
I wasnt knocking em Pat,
I love old skool cars but, Fords of old had a few issues once you went chasing power,
To be honest i would say the audi would need near twice the power of the escort to feel as fast,
 
Why have you taken the back bumper off?
Is your new turbo internal or external waste gate?
I would miss the chatter of an external 'gate
 
i had a lil accident with gatepost

Ill be running internal WG on GT30 but ill know more in 24 hours..
 
Well not much to update..

Got myself a big port head..

Sent off the block to northern road so they can bore it out to except the larger 2.0 pistons..

I also sent off my inlet and rocker to be painted black which i got back today..
 
Seems like a high spec build you doing here. Any ideas of costing if you dont mind me asking? or are you just taking it as it comes. Would be intrested in doing something like this on mine in the next year as its just seems to be always dropping in value... not worth selling so may aswell have fun with it.
 
your be not having much change from 7k...

I`m lucky as i worked in parts trade for 10 years so have plenty contacts.. direct accounts with sachs, LUK, etc etc always help..

Few things have cropped up already like ****** clutch engine mounts so more expense..

Quick update, got the block back all done.. Borrowed some selemix paint from my work and andy gave it a quick lick of paint

Well there aint.. i dont really use the car a deal..

I think andy has everything for bottom end.. stroker kit, oil pump, new bearings, seals etc etc.. so think he will be cracking on with that..

My AGU head has turned up at my olds. so ill pop up and get that stripped and cleaned up over weekend.. we still have to order valves and springs from I.E
