I'm glad you didn't take it as insult because it wasn't meant as one, we've been around this stuff too long.
looking forward to seeing the progress and the car clips of you sayin "holy sh!t" the first time it makes decent boost
Not at all
I'm very much aware that so many people start a project with massive ideas, take on more than they can manage, and never finish it, and that's a real shame.
I've taken on a fair bit here, but I think it's all manageable. it's probably the biggest single change that'll have happened to the car in one hit. it's just finding the time to get it all done, so I'm being realistic. I don't want it to be drawn out over another 12 months, but largely, it'll be done when it's done.
Lots of it is a case of now or never, things like the Diff, so the situation forces some changes. Things I've thought about for years but wouldn't otherwise do. If I don't do them now, it'll be another 4-5 years before I do them, so I'm taking the plunge!
I'm sure the 3076 will take some getting used to, and it'll certainly require some re-learning, but the billet 3076 (albeit in various different forms) is the turbo chosen by so many who go racing with the 1.8T, and it seems about the right balance of big power / spool, so fingers crossed I'll enjoy it once we've got to grips with how it performs.
If anything I'm expecting it to be more tractable in the wet at very low boost levels, as it won't be quite so instant as the 064, which was so keen to boost at any opportunity it was unreal.
I just need to find a good supplier of Brave pills now to be able to drive it once it's done
