How come A4's seem so difficult on ebay or online shops to find spare parts (new or 2nd hand)
I come from owning a mk4 golf gt tdi where I could replace worn out interior parts with ease from ebay etc but I'm struggling to do this for the a4

I'm after replacements for the headlight switch, air con unit, interior door grab handles as the previous owner was a lady who must of had long nails and scratched everything but I cant find anything on the internet for them

anyone help or give any recommendations???

There's perhaps not the volume of A4's about that there are Golfs, so less about in breakers. Its always worth trying the dealers first, I think that door handle trim is only about £16. Trade Parts Specialists, Eurocarparts and GSF are worth investigating too.

You'll find a new climate contol unit on ebay I should think, either that or find someone that's done an RNS conversion.

Cool, I've dropped him an email regarding some parts.

Out of interest does anyone know the part numbers for the alumnium dash board trim, ash tray cover and gear stick surround? It all looks so tidy when fitted as per the pic below which I believe is your car

I might see about doing the double din installation with the audi sat nav unit...are they any good?

Did the double din conversions and fitted the RNS-E nav sourced from e-bay.... definitely recommend...

Alu trims from a B7 fit as well, I got mine off e-bay again....

how does the RNS-E unit rate? I had a sat nav unit installed in my old golf but when i used the sat nav it updated my location every 5 minutes so was useless. the sat nav that was in my a4 courtesy car (b8 version) last year was awesome, updated continuously and worked well, does this one?

This is a good unit ours was sourced from German ebay lots of Audi bits THere as you would expect.Cost about £500 but make sure the disc is not a copy

So does the sat nav update continuously as you move or does it update after a certain amount of time?

Whats the difference between using a genuine disc and a copy??? I'm pretty sure all the ones on ebay will be copies, i know the one I got for my golf was a copy

I know very little about RNS systems, but I've heard that the system will need to work a lot harder to read a copied disc over an original one. I'm not sure why that is however, but the general consensus has always been to avoid copy's.

use originals if you can....

satnav is pretty good at what it's designed to, but it is a little long in the tooth now, so no SDHC, no touchscreen: the little arrow flows along the road accurately, smooth updating, quick recalcs if you change the address, it auto-routes around traffic delays (picks up traffic alerts over FM) but it can be fiddly with only half post codes (eg. SW19 1, not SW19 1BE... then you have to pick from streets in the area) and you have to be careful with the MP3's on the SD cards (it's picky on the number of files and number of characters on the files names / playlists).... I like it for the integration into the DIS and steering wheel.

and yes, that's my interior :)

really nice interior, from what I've seen on ebay and on the net it must of cost a fair bit to get it all bought and installed.

glad to hear the sat nav is smooth, the one I had in my golf wasnt and wouldnt update my position continuously but every 3-4 minutes. bit pointless for a sat nav really lol
