engine oil change should i get a genuine oil filter

i would like to do an engine oil and filter change at the weekend on my 2001 s3, ive only had the car a couple of months and its my first audi, should i buy genuine oil and filter from audi or get oil and filter from a motor factors, does anyone know roughly how much oil and filter would cost from audi, thanks in advance people.

Genuine filters are £6.00 incl VAT from dealers, its guaranteed to fit and for £6 why go pattern.

ok thanks mate, i will buy genuine, i expected the filter to be a lot dearer than that from audi, im also going to fit a magnetic sump plug to.

Dealer prices can often be surprisingly good, and on some things eye wateringly expensive, but always worth checking before going pattern part

Or get it from TPS...my genuine oil filter is only £4.80 inc vat.

i always use Fram filters. normally only about £5
