I got a 98 a3 1.8t the oil pressure light comes on first thing in morning when cold for a few mins then goes off and sometimes when you boot it, oil is clean and engine is quiet no taps or anything but can smell oil a little bit under bonnet when warm but it isn't leaking by looks of it? Any ideas?

and if and when it fails its gona cost ££££££££

Is it a hard job to take sump off and clean pipe etc or failing that change pump? How much is pressure testing roughly?
Thanks

it should be around £40 fot a test
id check the sensor then sump off to check pick up pipe

Is it a hard job to get sump off to clean pipe? Also I've ordered a dump valve a twin piston and was told it would be fine on mine but since I've been told it would cause problems if I lose recirculating one ?
Thanks

i never flush the engine can loosen the crap and blocck it up
sump off aint to hard aslong as you have a lift
the dump valve can cause idle problems on the 18t i use the splitter R its still a recirc valve but with some noise and just replaces the oem DV
below is the 1 i use car will run as should theres this and another this is the loudest

What tools will I need and how long roughly to do? What sort of cleaner do I need for cleaning pipe? Do I need new gasket too?
