Any S4 owners changed their fuel filter?

Its not on a recommended Aud schedule to be changed, was just wondering if any of you guys have had it changed.

Do any of you have injectors cleaned or flushed ever?

Dont have any issues with my fuel supply afaik just wanted to keep things working as efficiently as possible.

Thanks,

Hi Ryan,

I changed mine about this time last year. When I bought the filter the guy on the parts desk asked why I was doing it as he said they don't included them in the service. Not sure if it was needed doing or not and didn't notice any difference but I was about to drive down to the Alps so did it for peace of mind. Its easy enough to change yourself, just jack the car up a bit on the o/s rear and then its behind a plastic cover. Just undo the bracket unclip the 2 connectors whilst trying not to get covered in petrol then just put the new one in its place. Took me about 15 minutes.

I have never had my injectors cleaned or flushed, I did have my injectors off last year and they didn't look gunked up at all. If you run a decent fuel you shouldn't need too. They are quite easy to look at to check, just unclip the connector on every injector and then lift the fuel rail and injectors out in one go, being careful not to wiggle it as the pintle o-rings can break easily.

Hi Sam, thanks for your reply and your guide,

I was quoted a good price to supply and fit by an independant specialist so will go with them as I dont fancy tackling the job. Scared of petrol and injectors. Spoke to a main dealer yesterday about a fuel filter and they told me my car didnt even have one. Strange.

I Always use V power or Momentum so maybe it doesnt need doing, just thought for the price it was another thing changed and could be worthwhile. Will get the spark plugs done at the same time as that was a good price too. Any recommendations for plugs or have you got OE ones fitted.

Thanks,

No worries, how much did they quote you to have the work done? From memory my fuel filter was £11. For the injectors they will probably just put them in a ultrasonic bath to clean them up. Let me know if you notice any difference after you get it done and I might do mine.

I just went with oem plugs. They are bosch ones I think

Sam,

Price quoted was just under £50. Not sure what they will do to clean the injectors, prob a flush with a liquid of some sort, I suppose I should find out a bit more really.

Is that for the filter change and the injectors cleaned as well? Not a bad price including the filter. Unless of course the just put some injector cleaner in your fuel tank

Yes Sam, the price was to supply and fit OE filter and clean/flush the injectors. Still yet to find out more about how they would clean/flush the injectors and also if I was to maybe ask If I could supply the filter, the price could poss come down a bit.

Not sure if you would save that much to be honest. They probably getting the filter for trade price and shouldn't put much mark up on it. I would defiantly find out what they are doing to clean the injectors first though

Ok Sam will do. Got slow wiper probs at the moment so having to try and rectify that. Always seems to be something. B6's are getting on a bit now I guess.
