I'll give you an example, approx £700 to have some springs, locking wheel nuts and a Forge DV supplied and fitted by QST. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked2.gif He could have bought the stuff himself for less than half that amount. The previous owner was nuts when it came to spending his cash.

That's just it. £700 to fit some springs. It's like 2 hour job for a garage at the most!! The DV valve would have taken 10, maybe 15, minutes. You guys should really start getting your hands dirty more often.

work has been done by the likes of DubSport for ludicrous amounts of money.

DubSport are expensive. I've heard of £6k cost to have a S3 lump installed into a MkII. And that was with the customer sourcing and supplying the engine!! It doesn't have to be that expensive though. I bought a 225 TT lump not long ago for £1k. That's sitting around in a garage waiting for a future project.
This is a good link to a guy doing his own 20vT conversion. Very comprehensive. Gives you a good idea of what is involved.

This gives a few answer to FAQ's, but it's American. Still applicable though.

I don't mind having a go at most things but the S3 is well complicated compared to most of the stuff I've dabbled with.

They really aren't that complicated. Once you strip away all the emissions gubbins there's not a lot left. Someone with your experience should have no trouble. Just different manufactures doing the same job slightly differently. If you do a conversion use an After Market EMS i.e. Emerald or Haltec, as this will simplify things no end.
