cools down when drive heats up on idle?

recently had to change the gasket and temp sender housing but since ive done this when the cars driven it cools right down but when ideling it warms up anyone any ideas?

I've only had the car a few weeks so not to sure if its done it before or not

Cars an A3 8L 1.8 non turbo

thermostat stuck open for sure. it heats up in idle as there is no airflow over the rad, when driving the rad overcools and it drops to 60ish.

Can be bought about by dropping the coolant and refilling, as you can dislodge crap in the system, or maybe just bad luck.

Either way, a new stat is about £12, and about 30 mins to fit.

o joy! I droped the coolent only to find audi gave me the wrong oring then again to change that only to find i had some how cracked the housing for the temp sensor

not having much luck at the moment but looking on the bright side i know the cooling system inside out!
