as the weather has been nice the last few days, i thought would try the so called semi air con on my a3

put on low and auto (get the star icon up ) but after 5 mins still warm, signs of compressor gone?

how could i tell? where abouts is it on car to look?

I think you can check aircon pressure in VCDS but failing that you will need to take it to a specialist for a test... I am sure Kwik Fit and other such garages have been offering re-gas of aircon for something silly like £45 which is quite cheap...

i am in the same boat.....just 1 step ahead.

My air con was kicking out warm air and i took it to f1 autocentres for regas......they charge £27!!! cheeeeep and if they cant regas, they wont charge. (£17 extra if you want bacterial cleanse too).

Anyways, they couldnt regas mine as my compressor was not activating........but they could confirm for me how much was in there and the pressure in the system (therefore no leaks)....

so for free i found out that it wasnt the regas that was the problem.

typical that my vcds lite and 3rd party cable doesnt want to connect to the hvac controller at the moment to look for faults! :(

i am sure i have read on here that there is a fuse on top of the battery that often is a cultpit for a non working compressor.......failing that i think its usually the air con clutch?.....

I really hope mine is the fuse! good luck with it and let us know how you get on.......i am being stingy and dont wanna fork out for a fix atm........*wishes hot weather would go away again*!

F1 autocentres website says £45 for aircon regas :(

the fuses on top of the battery (the fuse nearest the engine is for the aircon) out of the 3
can be pressure switch (behind turbo heatshield on bulkhead)
or Fan Control Module water damage (bolted to N\S Chassis rail under front of battery mount)
and about 100 other small faults.

I'm still trying to sort mine :(
Compressor not kicking in but works fine direct from battery

my mate has vcds, do you know where to look to test it?

everything seems ok, the revs went up on the auto and ice icon button put on and then back to normal when off

mine was the fuse! thank god....didnt cost a penny....was dreading shelling out for an new compressor!
