11.44pm on a saturday night down the old Devon expressway known as the A38, Justin here pulls onto the motorway the road is empty takes his golf tdi up to the steady 85-90 mark and sets sail home! Though, as i pull of the A38 onto the roundabout my heart sinks as i see the lovely sight of a Volvo V70 sat in my rear view mirror, i start making my way home, though it is apparent that he is following me! The lights come on i pull over immediatly, i step out of the car he invites me in. I get the usual police blab and then "how fast were you going?" i reply "aroound 80ish" wish in itself wasnt a lie, he then replies "we didnt have our (thingyamajig) on, though we had out camera on and have proof of you driving 90" he then played it back to me, asked me if i wanted to go to court. Now being 18 and have never been pulled over by the police i was sh*tting myself, in retrospect it might have been an almost arguable case in the courts as 1) it was dark and you can only just make out my car and 2) do they not have to be following you for a certain amount of time? But anyway i accepted the fact i was driving those speeds and took the 3points and £60 penalty! They were reasonable enough guys, that said i was just in the wrong place at the wrong time! But oh well, looks like for the next 3years im going to have to drive impecably as another 3points sees me having to re-take my liscense all over again!
Ahhh well i just hope it was some type of fate or something!

sorry to hear /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif But thats what how low this country has sunk, who cares if an empty motorway if some easy money can be made!!

Does sound dodgy evidence indeed! If you want to know for sure post the above on this forum where you will find out what alternatives were and what do if there is a next time:

Yeah, I don't think they can use VASCAR very easily at night.
You probably would have had a good case in court, but who needs all that hassle & expense if it's your first time?

Yeh its my first time, though due to the great law of young drivers only being able to have 6points on their liscense im going to have to take it very easily, or get a British Virgin Islands driving lisence!

I feel for you, mate, but hey! I'm 43 & I'm having to take it very easy too, for the next two years. Next strike, & I'm out.

red_A4, sorry to hear.

I take it this 6 points limit is a new probationary period for new drivers ?. How long does it last ?.

I think the ruling is for the first 2 years. I'm so glad I passed my test a long time ago.

Kev.

Yes, i am led to think its 2years, almost had my license for a year now, and off to uni in september (leave my car at home) so hopefully that will help me not getting another 3 points!

You an me both!!! what does the compass say now ...n' gonna pass us the water rations....whilst kepping yer finger in the hole to stop the boat sinking... must be hard typing whilst paddling.... you are paddling right?? or is it just me...an thats why we're going round in circles.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/goofy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

my brother got caught by the 6 points in less than 2 year deal. Was selling his old escort for spares n repairs as it need too much for its MOT. Guy never turned up on several occasions and the TAX ran out, plus he had transfered his insurance to his new car. Some idiot hit it parked outside his house and did a runner, neighbours calling the police. As you can guess, on the road without TAX & Insurance - 6 points and he had to resit his test. To make matters worse, somebody told him he couldnt sit his test for 6 months (police!!) so he sold his new car and used the bus for 6 months only to find out he didnt need to wait /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
