I purchased a second hand car from a Audi dealership 3 months ago, and since day 1 the car has constantly had to go back to service centre to have various faults repaired.
In the last 3 months I have been to the dealership 8 times (yes 8), one of the visits required me to be without my newly purchased 2nd hand car for up to a month.
On receiving the car, the parts and labour to have car fixed equalled the amount I spent to purchase the car!!!!
The 2,3,4 and 5th visit I had to continually return for one fault which each repair only lasting no more then 2 days.
In order to finally fix the problem, I had to ask the dealer a rhetorical question. (I did not want the dealership thinking I am telling them what to do)- result after the fault finally was fixed properly!!
So by this time, with all parts & labour done, they spent well over the price I purchased the car now.
Then a few days later, I kept monitoring oil consumption and notice on MMI Oil level is dropping at a alarming rate, more then what spec in owners manual state.
Had to bring car again to service centre 7th and 8th time for them to conduct a stage 1 oil consumption test.
results came in failed the test.
Now up to service centre to decide what to do next to repair the fault.
In my short experience with Audi, it has been a calamity of errors, and a pain going back & forth fixing faults. When ever I see a Audi on road, Im thinking nice looking car, but "do you have same problem as me??"
Regarding the oil consumption problem " this is a world wide issue,(USA,Britain,Australia, Europe, South Africa).
Just google the issue and you receive almost a million entries. They even have a Facebook page dedicated to the problem.
Why dont Audi " take responsibility since this fault came straight out of there factory, Audi should repair the problem hassle free & compensate there customer for the time taken to do this...
I hope Audi can step up and make me not regret me purchase.
An update on my drain in life.... The Audi dealers have had my car for nearly 1 month now and I've had a 2.0Tdi Audi TT courtesy car which is great but has been a bit of a problem with space! Anyway, the pistons have been done, con rod replaced and what ever else, just a few final checks apparently and road test by them and the car will be ready to collect either tomorrow or 2nd Jan.
The reason I wanted the work doing at Audi so much is for the paperwork, 2 year guarantee, and resale value, at least if I have any further problems I can just mither Audi about it, I even rang around and no where could do this repair for any lower than £1900, the lowest price I got was £2500 ex vat. Also if ever it comes to light that Audi do honor these repairs and do them for free, I plan on claiming it back!
I asked Audi if they could change the cam belt whilst carrying out this work but apparently my engine has a chain not a cam belt.
Does anyone know how much it would be to get new chrome tail pipes or if Audi would have replaced them with the repair? I presume they are knackered as they have always been black and I have never seen any chrome bits on them since I owned the car in September. After all they are only knackered because of Audi! ;o/
Can't wait to get it back, I have missed it so much, I just hope this has rectified the problem and I can finally enjoy the car! It seemed ironic that I've just had to buy 6 months road tax whilst not actually having the car and only physically having it on my drive 6 weeks out of 3 months of owning it. I've driven 3 courtesy cars in that duration more than my own car!! Grrrrrr.
