I'm just going to take the gearbox off. I don't have a garage either as such, my cars parked in the multi storey car park at the apartments where I live. I'm going to have to start the work early Saturday morning and get it finished before Mondaay morning and the apartment management team find out and I get booted out.
I don't have Auto Data, I just had a look on their website and it's very expensive for a years subscription.
No excuse now, time to get my hands dirty....View attachment 16505:Flush:
I'd love to attempt something like this, but have zero experience, so probably wont do that.

You should definitely give it a go could be fun. Make sure you take some pics though
LOL you just want to see me start a post titled "so, I killed my engine"
Yeah. Low compression in cylinders 2 and 3, blowing smoke, mayo on oil cap, lumpy idle' wouldn't hold 2000 rpm, diarrhea in my water reservoir.
I stripped a cylinder head bolt at the weekend. My life is now over.
It seems it is recomended that you hammer the spline tool in as dirt / grit sits within the head of the bolt and you think the spline tool has seated itself but it hasnt. Just inexperience on my behalf I suppose.
Stripped the head of the bolt. It's now just round.
2. Get the car in the garage, accept im a failure and let the professionals finish it.
Back in business. Got the bolt off. I hammered a bigger bit in. Thanks for the tip Chillout.
Just got it back this morning. if nowt else its looks a lot better than before. il keep it as an ornament if this all goes tits.
invoice says....
pressure tested
surface mill
reface valves
reface seats
dismantle, degrease and assemble
payen valve stem seal set
cost £262. not sure if thats good or bad or reasonable. but as long as it all works now then il be happy.
