Am ok using 10W/40 semi syn oil in my 1999 T REG 1.6??

Hello guys

I have had my A3 for about 8 months, not due a service yet so do not know what oil has been used before!. I have been using a vw 505.00 approved 15w/40 API SL/CF ACEA A3/B3 to top up as and when. Bought some 10w/40 semi syn today with same numbers, am I ok to use this just for topping up? Mileage 131,000

id say its not going to do harm if you have to but most advise full syn especiall for the age of yours

Stick to factory spec, which is 5w-40 full synthetic.

If you do want to go up to 10w-40 then rather go for full synthetic.
