loose hose

Hi guys me again,

there seems to be a clear hose loose to the left of the battery. its about 1cm in diametre and is not connected to anything. Ive been told it is used to prevent overflow in some batteries. This does not make anysense to me? anyone?

is the overflow for the battery, it should be tucked down one of the drainage holes
