We have a 2009 A3 1.9tdi Sport.
The tyres are 225/45/17 91V.

I need a new set of 4 tyres and the goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetic 2s seem the best at the moment and good value too.

The thing is the extraload tyres in the goodyear range (225/45/17 94Y XL) are slightly cheaper than those that are fitted.

I see the 94Y XL as betterment over the fitted once.

Does anyone see a problem with fitting these?

im runnin falken ze914 on my s3 after originally having F1s (bought car with them and half year later had to change cus some one screwed 2 of them and one some how got a gouge in sidewall) and i think falks are just as good. maybe faster wearing as some ppl said but alot cheaper and good grip!

orig tried to get falk 412s after some research but there discontinued!

No problem at all, the XL's will be a bit stiffer but if anything will be better matched with a big(ish) diesel engine

I've got the falken 914 225/45/17 on my 3.2 and it's a very good tyre. Much quieter than the bridgestones it had and grip seems very good.
