Possible front control arms

Right guys my 2003 a4 is creaking when pulling away from junctions or if turning the wheel lock to lock. Thinking its time for new control arm.
What's the symptoms for these starting to fail?

I had this issue too. I read into this and found out it was the alternator pulley!
Got that and belt replaced,sorted.

Ah rite I'm not far off due a timing belt so ill get both done at the same time see if it cures it. Although I'm sure it's the top arms

Leave stationary get someone to steer full left and right with bonnet up (and head in their) and you should have more of an idea if arms or pulley.
