Hi all. I have a 2007 S3 and am trying to work out why 2wd coilovers are different to the 4wd ones? I think the s3's are a 55mm front strut but am happy to be corrected?

Also I've seen 55mm coilovers for sale that only say 2wd and don't know the difference?

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question!? Haha!

thanks for any help

Sam

The 2wd has a spring separate to the shock on the rear where as the Quattro has an all in one shock and spring on the rear like any normal front coilover

Really? I thought they were the same set up as the mk5 r32 I had with was a seperate spring cup on the rear bottom arm and seperate shock?

I'm pretty sure thats how it works, i'll be corrected if I'm wrong though. It was the case on the 8L's for definite

The s3 is 55mm front strut and the back have a spring and shock separate the same as the r32

So is there any difference from the ones advertised as 2wd and those advertised as 4wd? Maybe just spring rates? I can't see how they would fit any different or am I missing a fundamental difference? Haha.
