Loosing Coolant

I'm loosing coolant in my 2005 A4 2.0 TDI.

Originally thought it was head Gasket. Got it tested and the garage don't think that is the problem.

I've heard of the EGR cooler being a problem. I got the oil changed and there seemed to be water in the oil. The odd time there does be some white smoke on start up. Also it is very rough starting. Started out when it was warm but now very bad when cold too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Added to that, I bought the EGR cooler but it didn't make a bit of difference, ended up sticking some steel seal in which cured the coolant loss, but still smoking still rough on start up

Thanks for that Macdoon. Do you just add the K seal to the coolant is it?
