Hi does anyone know how much a service cost? My A4 avant (11 months old)'s MMI tells me I'm 1400 miles from oil change and 1000 miles from service. Am I correct in assuming that there is a fixed price for a service which includes oil change? And is this price same no matter which dealer I go to?

Edit: audi website gives fixed price but only for over 3 yrs old cars, can't seem to find price for newer.

minor service is about £159 (oil change service counter reset) major service about £299 (oil change visual inspection and fuel filter and reset). Air and pollen filters are not changed as a matter of course neither are spark plugs certainly not at this mileage.MASSIVE rip off esp for the major service. You can however take your own oil/filters if you want but dont expect a big discount. But hey, you need the stamp.

Thanks for the info Johnny. Yeah I agree the cost is a bit steep, considering its just a quick inspection and an oil change. But then again since I want the warranty to stand and probably will trade it in in the next couple of years, I better get the authentic Audi stamp. Will call the dealer soon and get it sorted.

Just incase if anyone finds the info helpful.
I got a price from dealer, £350 (oil change visual inspection and pollen filter).
Its A LOT, but i wanted the stamp and assumed other dealers charge similar amounts so will probably call back to book it in.

If you have more than one Audi dealer in the area call and see if they will beat the price and I am assuming you asked for a % discount ??

Thanks Anthony. I got a quote from a different audi dealer and they quoted me £25 cheaper. So my dealer matched it.
It just shows that with a bit more effort you can save yourself some beer money.

At what point do they change your spark plugs? If you're paying that much, they aren't really doing much are they

I think around 40K miles, or is that the fuel filter. I can't remember. But my milage is low enough where they said its not required.
Still a lot of money I agree, but i thought the authentic Audi service history would make the re-sell/trade in value that bit higher when the time comes.
After the warranty runs out I'll probably get it done elsewhere, if i still want to keep this one.

Hmm I remember my old Mercedes they would change it at every service regardless of how many miles it did

Me thinks Audi is cost cutting

Yes that may well be the case. Example is the non LED interior lights…. and so on….. (although it did give me something to do on sundays)…..

I would always go Audi. The fixed price servicing is very reasonable. I paid £230 for a Major Service which was far cheaper than the local Audi 'Specialist'.

That's a good price (comparing to mine anyway). Things are cheaper up north!

Think that depends on your local dealer. Not sure I'd trust mine to find the car in the car park. :)

Local indie on the other hand is good value and knows what he's doing.

I believe its 40000 miles.
They have you by the ******** for that stamp that you need for your warranty. And dont believe you are getting anything special either. Identical work as done by an independant but more expensive. The dealer doesnt have to rely on recommendations for trade. Its shooting fish in a barrel. You would scream if you saw who works in the workshops.(generalisation by the way...)

You do not have to goto a main dealer to get a car serviced to keep the warranty up. A good independent will use the same parts and stamp the book. And that is as good as any dealer. The dealer prices for servicing are silly. 5L of Quantum Long life oil and an oil filter is less than £40 and thats the price I pay without trade discount and buying 5L of oil. They get discounts and buy oil in bulk.

Karl.

My service cost me £114

Bosch parts
Oil filter
Air filter
Fuel filter
Sump plug
Castrol Magnatec oil fully synthetic £27 on offer

All from euros for £64

Paid a local mechanic £50 to do it all and a stamp!

Quantum oil ? That says a lot......and a stamp from billy no mates garage counts for diddly

Quantum oil is Castrol under the Audi Quantum label and all genuine Audi parts carry a 12 month warranty so if fitted by any qualified mechanic and fitted in the correct way Audi would honour warranty work if these parts were deemed the reason of any failure.
Most Audi specialist techs the decent ones have gone to work for Audi specialist garages cos they don't get there hands dirty at main dealers garages these days so I never hesitate going to a specialist they all scratch each other's backs anyway.
