What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

Great stuff guys..
Is there any other audi with the same shape steering wheel as the b7 that would work fine on my b6.

Let me know if you want the part numbers to fit a newest generation mfsw with a correct airbag for your b6......

I've done the same conversion in my TT

Any later shape wheel with "MODE" button works as its the lower lin version
So yours is a A4/A5 wheel with a A3 8v single stage airbag

I went for carbon flat bottom and had to have dual stage bag out of a A4/A5

So if I go for one of these I just need an a3 airbag to have have it working properly and with no fault codes?

Yep that's right A3 8V airbag on mine and the Mode left hand side button. Completely transforms the cabin and doesn't look out of place. One of the best mods I've gone for as it is the direct link between the driver and the the car.

The carbon on yours looks ace, quite jealous! I'd need the carbon dash trim if I went down that route! Oh and the pot of gold to make that happen!

This purchase was a bargain..
Sccm, angle sensor, blinker and wiper stalk with dis buttons for £45.
And the best part is that the slip ring is compatible with mfsw that I'm planning to do sometime in the future..
Definitely stroke gold..

hi friends. had a busy time today with the audi. ive fitted the double din conversion, found £1.15 and an old virgin mobile sim, :highly amused: took the seats out and hoverd all the carpet where the seats go, polished all the plastic trims that go around the seats bases. i found the 4 electric window switches give them a clean. preped and primed the drivers side window switch panel and did the same with the 2 rear ones, got to order 2 new switches for the rear. also removed the a4 badge from the boot lid. know iam in 2 minds whether to leave all the badges off, or get the audi rings in black and just put them back on,

No code, no cruise, no nothing..
Just brake warning light..
Think it look good peeking from behind the wheel.
Any tips are welcome to get her coded and working..

hi mate had the same when i fitted my cruise control. you will have to make the car reconise the new coms unit, that means you will need to find thew code for the whole car, then you will need to tell the engine ecu it know has c/c ans finally to get rid of the brake warning you will need to recode the abs pump to the car.

hi lenny i didnt do it my mate does all my coding for me. took him about 20 minutes or so to do mine. from what i can remember. you have to read the car that will give you the code you need to enter to make the it all work. it is a 4 digit code, you will also have to reset the steering angle of the car, you may need to take it for a little spin around the block. that what i can remember. sorry i cant be very precise.

What you mean by read the car?
The steering angle sensor was the only thing that went right.. Soon as I done that it showed OK..
No problem. I'll have to live with the warning light until tomorrow when I get back @ it..
But thanks anyway.. Every little helps.

I had fun with this myself.

My problems were, after fitting a SWCM and cruise were:

1. The coding in the brakes/ABS module needs re-entering as the soft coding is lost in the process. The login/security code took me ages to work out. Are you using a genuine VCDS lead? Have a look at the ross-tech website under recoding bosch ABS modules on a b6, there are instructions there, and also somewhere (you can Google it) was an official ross-tech YouTube video of how to build up the login code and your soft coding from the spec of the car (the login code is logical based on your chassis/car format (avant/saloon/convertible) engine/brakes system, not a random set of numbers). The video describes how to find it.

2. To code cruise in it has to be coded into the SWCM and the main ECU as well. I can remember the modules, one is central convenience I think and the other is one of the engine e modules.

Good luck :)

I had already stored the soft coding because I knew it would be lost after swapping the sccm.
And when typing it in it doesn't store the code. It keeps zeroed out.
Yeah.. My lead is genuine and I've used it successfully before.. And I did use the video about the coding even though I had the soft code.
Does this need to be done in a specific order?
I will have to try again tomorrow.. Want this working so bad now..

Hey man..
Re-tried the confinf/coding and re-watched the video. Went through Ross tech site and still can't code the abs..
Coded instruments and steering wheel but engine could not be coded and the abs light still on..
Can you walk me through coding to get it working.?

And forgot to mention.
I did try to learn the vin number but the new value field was grey..so could not input the new value to get this done...

hi mate my mate wasnt around was out on a call. ill try again for you tomorow. the no. that was greyed out was it a 4 digit no. have you tried to read the code from the abs pump, as this is the code you will need. as for coding the engine ecu. did you get the car to reconise the news coms unit, and the switch. i know its obvoius but have you put in the correct infomation at the start menu. cause it turns out that my engine ecu is not the original one from the car. try reading the engine ecu, and see it it gives you the same chassis no. from your car. if it does then it should give you the code to unlock the engine ecu to allow you to programme it to let it use the c/c.

No worries..
The grey area was the one where you put 00111 to learn the vin number into the sccm. Didn't let me do that.. Couldn't find any 4 digit code anywhere..
Not sure how to read abs pump to get the code.
But I did manage to read the ecu and the number in there wasn't same as my chassis number..
That might the problem for me then..
And yes.. I'm 100% sure I put the correct info..
I have the coding from before swapping the sccm and based on that I got my login code. But it does not accept the coding..

I'm gonna start to thank everyone here who took time to answer and give me amazing tips on how to code and set it up..
Although still isn't working I managed to code the abs by after doing the steering angle sensor by inputting the login and coding in the end..
Everywhere I looked it said it should code from the start after doing this but mine simply wasn't taking it..
And don't ask me where I got the idea of doing this in the end but it worked..
The switch is working as well as shown in the picture after selecting the on position..
But all I need to do is learn the vin number into the parts..
Any idea on how to get this done.?

So can see it is genuine from the version number. Not sure why you can't learn the new vin to the module? You are clicking the read button yeah?
If it still doesn't work register on the Ross Tech forums. You're genuine and they'll give you free support (assuming it isn't second hand and registered with another person). They'll respond within 24 hours usually with a solution.

I have no idea either why I can't learn the vin to the module..
I used this cable ams software when I retrofitted the dis and that went without a problem.
What I thought was out it all back to just dis and it might let me input the new value to learn the vin. Doesn't hurt to try..
Yeah.. It is second hand and it might be registered to someone else..
As for ideas it's the only one I have and can only try tomorrow on a friends laptop because mine decided it didn't want to work anymore..
Any and every idea welcome..

Can anyone shed any light on the issue i have.

My key keeps 'disconnecting' from the car. I have to turn the ignition on and off again to remote lock the doors!

Ive changed the battery not long ago maybe 2 months ago.

So, seen this too http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/01794

Paying attention to the bit
Special Notes
That's the only thing I could find about vin learning on their website.

Fitted the new bonnet release lever, easy enough job & also lubed the release catch mechanism ... now it's a super smooth action.

20160721 102516 HDR
20160721 104655 HDR

Also fitted a new dump valve, reason being I assume the original one being 92500 miles might be a bit worn & for £30 why not.
Well jacked the car up, put axle stands underneath & got under the car for the first time since buying it, to say I'm not impressed would be putting it mildly :wtf: . Oil leaks, trace of water from the water pump, snub mount showing excess wear so guess what I'll be doing in a few weeks ......

Well the D.V has made a difference, it seems to pull much better, more linear, smoother.

Now I have a to get a timing belt kit, water pump & a snub mount .... hours of fun coming my way :frown: ...

OK boys.. Here are my dtc's.
From sccm, central electrics and steering wheel modules.
If I cm ear them they come back up and I think that's why I can't learn the vin to them..
Any thoughts?
