Dash Computer going blank/freezing

Hi all.

I have a 2004 a3 and the computer between the dials (mpg, trip etc) keeps turning off randomly sometimes it will do it once in 20mins other times it can be every 2minutes and stay off for 5mins. It also freezes sometimes when scrolling through modes and then seems to reboot itself.

Anyone got any ideas? Need new comp, maybe battery fault?

anyone even got a hint as to what to try first?

you could try checking power connecter and earths and fuses. see the the clock is held together correctly with 2 screws etc.
