Guys, I've looked through the 'definitive' brake guide but haven't found a definitive answer wether 996 rears can be used as an upgrade on the front. I've seen that the boxster rears are no good but that's as far as I can read. Anyone running them?

nope. sadly not.

None of the rear calipers have suitable piston sizes to give decent braking on the front of our cars.

LCR Brembo 323's, 996 fronts, or 996 TT/C4S fronts are the calipers to have from the brembo range, using 323, 330, or 334mm discs respectively.

Mate is selling the whole lot, brackets etc for £180. I would do as well to buy it as-is and get the right callipers then. It's got nearly new 312 discs anyway. Anyone been brave enough to fit them to the rears? lol

I'd walk away. They're the wrong calipers, so wrong brackets, and 312's are bad news also.

You'd need to replace everything mate. brackets are different for each type of caliper too I'ma fraid.
