AMI Retro Fit Q's

I am looking at installing an AMI cable into my 09 C6 MMI 3G High as my next mod, but can't find any sort of definitive guide for it. I don't really want to replace the CD changer (unless I have too) so am hoping its a reasonably simple and cheap mod to do. Regarding the lead, I've seen genuine ones on eBay for £250 (looks like a few leads tied together) but I've also seen smaller leads (just one wire) for only around £40.00. Will the cheaper lead work or do I need the other one?

No the £40 leads will not work. You need one of these AUDI AMI iPhone iPod (Audi Music Interface) FOR MMI 3G - A4 S4 RS4 A5 S5 RS5 Q5 | eBay (That will fit all 3G MMI systems) then it will need to be coded for it to work. You will also be able to keep your CD-Changer it's not like the early 2G setup.

Sorry, don't have any guides. I'm currently retrofitted MMI 3G into my A6, and will be fitting AMI, but will only be connecting up the USB connections (If that's possible) as I don't have any apple products and never going to buy any so only need the USB interface. The cabling is very easy and you cannot get that wrong, but you will need either access to the hidden menu or VCDS to enable AMI.
