i literally did this job last week and said exactly the same 'never again' what a pain in the ***.
i wish i did a build thread when i had the chance... i'm 3 years late now
so, if you remove the fuse, you can disable the ASR?i had a recent track afternoon at lakeside...
the car is definitely a pretty capable set up and it surprised a few people. i got my pb but decided i could use some tuition, driver modification is next on the list...
also tried a skid pan covered in diesel...
thats when i found out the S3 has ASR that cannot be turned off without pulling the ABS fuse, awesome...

Thanks for the replies, mines a facelift MY10 I think...
Can’t turn off asr, removing abs fuse will fix it but obviously no abs then. Apparently pre- facelift could turn off asr. All depends on abs pump module...
Looking at retrofitting an old abs module but doesn’t look like a common method. Spoke to apr dealer and they are aware of the issue but can’t “tune it out”...
Stupid if you ask me, should be a button for it...
Not sure about the pre facelift thing, I’d always thought facelift starts from 09?
agreed, think facelift is 09 onwards. may be to do with year of manufacture of abs pump module. who knows, all I do know is its a pain in the *** and stupid that you can't turn it off...
