Oil round spark plugs

Hi I wonder if someone could help me out I've just change the coil packs and the spark plugs on my A4 1.8T on a 03 reg. and whilst changing the plugs I noticed there is lots of oil all over the plugs I have had a small oil leak could this be something to do with it ? Any help would be great many thanks.

Rocker cover gasket has failed. Or more specifically, the sealing rings around the spark plug recesses. Oil collects in the recess where the coil packs sit - and around the plug as you describe. Fiddly job - but not that difficult. There is an order in which the securing bolts are supposed to be removed and replaced - it's outlined in Haynes.
