Just wondering if coilover suspension can effect tyre wear?

Just checked my tyres and looks like I'll be needing some new ones on the front soon after only 6 months use!
They are Continental Conti Sport 5's on a Sportback 2Ltr Tdi, with a max 6k miles on them so really surprised they need changing already. When they were fitted I had a four wheel alignment, and I keep an eye on the tyre pressures so wondering why I need some already as I don't cosider myself to have a heavy right foot and 6 months wear seems terrible to me.

Any ideas?
George

Do you have a print out of what the car was set to when you had it 4 wheel aligned?

No print-out.
Been to the tyre dealership today, and seem to indicate fast tyre wear is a common issue on Sportbacks.

Dealerships talk balls sometimes, there's no real difference between the two that would cause this.

I'm on Conti Sport 5s and I think I've done about 10k so far, still plenty left.

Coilovers themselves won't affect tyre wear directly, a car that doesn't have the correct camber, toe etc will.

If you've lowered the suspension the standard geometry settings won't be right. You really need to take it to an alignment specialist who understands what lowering a car does to the geometry.
