Hi All,

In January I traded in my 12 plate Jaguar XF, which I only had for 6 months and just didn't gel with, for a 13 plate A4 Avant S Line in lava grey from Oxford Audi. Oxford Audi's sales guy was great and I had a much better buying experience than I did with another Audi dealer and the Jag dealer. When I picked up the car and made my way down the M40 I immediately fell for the car and got that feeling that was missing for me with the XF. I had many Audi's, A4 B5's and B6's mainly and a couple of A3's and an A6 along the way, as company cars when I worked for VAG in Milton Keynes for a few years. Also my first Audi was a much loved high mileage coupe many years ago.

I had an X Type prior to the XF and had frequented the various Jag forums from time to time, so it followed that I checked out the Audi forums. So it all started a couple of months ago with the VAGCOM/VCDS purchase and various mods later I was hooked. Got some really invalueable information about various bits of coding especially enabling Google earth etc from this forum.

Then started thinking about wheels on my car. After reading various posts I purchased a set of Rotor reps from LD Prestige and I'm really pleased with them and make my car look so much better. I know all the comments about reps etc but that isn't for now, I like them and that's what counts and I would never have found them if it hadn't been for you guys on here.

Next I started reading about DAB which sadly wasn't on my car. I ended up buying the genuine Audi upgrade kit from Huntingdon Audi, another helpful dealer. I took the plunge and installed it myself as I started my working career as a mechanic and thought I should be capable of doing it. I'll be honest, it's a pig of a job with so much interior trim to remove just to get to the D pillar and the dreaded soldering connections to the glass. However it actually only took me about 3 hours and the soldering bit wasn't as scary as I thought, especially as Audi supply a bit of the special solder in the kit. I obviously ran into the component protection issue which I had to get removed, which I was annoyingly charged for, but all is working now. Again I really don't think I would have been able to complete this without all the info on here.

Then I started thinking about other mods. Carried on reading the other forums which ultimately led me to the excellent guys at Hazzydayz, a VAG retro-fitter. Turned out they are based down the road from me. So folding mirrors, front door lights, rear camera and TV later I think its quite loaded. I dare not add up how much all this has cost but heh, I'm smiling. I spend a lot of time in my car as I use it for my work and will run this one for many years and miles so I think it's worth it. I got the glove box light kit and F&R footwell light kit from the very helpful RobinA3 on here and have just got the footwell lights to do.

Sorry, a long post, but I just wanted to say a big thanks for all the information and interesting reading, what a great forum guys. I'll hopefully meet some of you at AITP this Sunday.

Cheers,
Andy

Thanks voorhees. Obviously that's some of the highlights I've mentioned. Didn't mention the Renault 12, Triumph Toledo, Mk 5 Cortina, Mk 1 & 5 Escort's and even a Mk 3 Capri too. Arrhh.... Memory Lane :)

Hi Andy, welcome to audi-sport.net. Interesting and informative first post. Glad you like the forum and we hope you enjoy your stay with us. :) x

Nice car, Andy. Got a link to those Rotor reps? Also, are they 18" or 19"?

Here you go Jante type Audi TTRS en 18 pouces.

This links to the gun metal ones I got, but they also have black and silver ones. They come in 17" to 20". I got the 18" x 8J to match the wheel size already on my car as I didn't want the Audi 19" ones. It's a french website but you can navigate your way round using Google translate if you don't speak/read french. If you decide to get some enquire by email and they will reply in English. Note they can't take credit cards from the UK for some reason so I had to pay via international bank transfer arranged through my bank but only took a few minutes. They were delivered within a week by UPS and came very well packaged.
