Ok.. Time for an overdue update, so much going on though in such a short space of time...
Where to start? ok... lets start with the standard facelift steering wheel!
Now this is something I always had a bit of a gripe with and spotted straight away with my analytical disease! I always felt the facelift sterring wheel was a bit of a let down over the preface (and this is where it gets ridiculous) I don't like the stitching layout of the facelift steering wheel and it looks and feels rather naff. So sitting in boredom and with the usual ebay browsing tendencies I came across this (Totally unplanned, spur of the moment decision) and bought it.... I could've went for the TTRS steering wheel or the likes, but the main thing was the perforated bits, gives a nice bit of grip over the smooth leather... And the perforated and smooth leather also matches the seats!
haha...
I'm not sure exactly what model it comes on, but it had an sline badge at the bottom, so i'm assuming an sline A3 or TT? Oem minus downgrade upgrade lol!
So the next stage was to change the badge and I set about that, fairly easy when you take the airbag out
Due to the rest of the thread being red on the car, this was also dyed Red....
Actually put my wheel into a lad I know who is a car upholsterer, to see how much changing the actual thread would cost? so he had a look.. Apparently the leather is glued to the wheel as well as stitched, supposedly would have been a nightmare to change and was quoted £100.... no thankyou! ha so went back to my usual method and looks just as well.
And this was it all fitted and finished....
Looks and feels fantastic imo and i'm well chuffed with it... Also has the nice MY11 airbag with the chrome ring...
Next on the list.. As previously mentioned the OZs were up for sale as I wanted to go back to 18's (just for a comfort thing more than anything) well the oz's sold to a nice bloke with a mk7 gti, so now the hunt was on for a replacement set of wheels.. In the meantime I was running about on these badboys! (Just standard facelifts in Black)
For some strange reason, I actually quite liked it, or was more content with it anyway, so there was no rush for a new set of wheels with it still being winter and all... I wanted to have a look about but also wanted something a bit tried and tested, so I could just jump in the car and enjoy it comfortably.. something i've not really been able to do, since i've been working on it so much. Wanted a set that I hadn't had before and also was going to last at least a few months
haha
Didn't last very long tho, was offered a set of Speedline Turinis and went for them... I got them off a mate and they were Black.. I was looking to go back to standard silver, so they were picked up and then dropped off at the furbers straight away and this was the result...
Also went for the Speedline corse wheel caps as they had came with Black Audi caps on them.. expensive caps tho at £40 a set, but went for the Silver and Blue and looked quite nice, so needs must!
Next on the list was tyres...Reading most of the forums and opinions on facebook, the Goodyear Eagle F1's always got really good reviews and i'd never had them before, so took the plunge and ordered up a new set of rubber!
So basically they are now on the car... 8J ET42, fill the arches well, not exactly bling to look at, well passable tho.. comfortable to run and i'm fairly happy with them....
But before we get to that and you'll get a sneak peak here, I also bought myself a whiteline uprated rear arb... Anyone thats driven the S3 quite vigorously, will be able to tell you the rear end is a bit floaty.. supposidly, the rear arb gives the most bang for buck? not really had a decent chance to test it out as yet, so the jury's still out on that 1, as with the Eagle F1's, but heres a pic of me and a few of the boys around here during our wee modding day, we all had a couple of bits and pieces to do, so thought why not get a mini mod meet haha is that even a thing? well it is now!! Nice and colourful if nothing else...
Well all in all, its been a busy wee time recently and its going to settle down for a wee while due to commitments to other things.. The only outstanding thing thats going to happen over the next month or so, is to service the car and service the haldex as the cars just turned 40K recently....
Anyway, heres a couple of pics of how its sitting just now, i'll get more pics up once I get a better chance to get some..
Turned out quite nice... Most parts have been changed on it and bits added here and there.. Really should have left the factory like this tho imo... So much better with all the subtle differences and to the untrained eye, looks standard!
