Hi Guys,

Just had my codes read and this has come up, can this be related to my erratic idle?

Also any advice on how to fix it would be appreciated.

Cheers Luke

Bump :(

Im going to try throttle body re alignment tommorow via vcds after that im all out of ideas.

These things are a PITA.

If the motor that drives them has failed or isn't working properly, that may cause issues, and then there's the position sensor.

You really need to find a decent garage near to you and have it looked at.

the local 'VAG specialist' is saying this is an issue with the throttle body - is this the case? I dont believe it is as I had my friend replace the throttle body with an OEM part and this issue still persists but the 'VAG specialist' is saying the new throttle body must be faulty but I highly doubt this.

Is there any good garages in Nottingham I can get this looked at :ermm:

Throttle bodies can fail(mine did) but as the error code is for the runner flap system, that's where they should look first, and as Gazwould says, this is a common problem.

Common failure.

ECP should stock and be competitive.

What is the exact part that needs to be replaced? Sorry to keep asking but I have no help over here so I need to know exactly what to order etc.

Any links to ECP etc would be appreciated.

Before you start ordering parts, you need to know exactly what part has failed or isn't working properly.

It may be the motor, the position sensor,or the falps themselves if they're covered in gunk.

The parts database is here....

http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/parts-database-for-the-audi-a3-s3-1997-to-date.212837/

But don't buy until you know what the issue is as you may easily end up fixing something that isn't broken.

OK so your saying the local garage is wrong and it DEFINATLEY isn't the throttle body? I take it this code is related to the intake manifold needing replacing or at least a part inside the manifold correct?

No....that's not what I'm saying.

What I said was that you need to be sure as to exactly which part or parts have failed before rushing out and buying things.

If you've already splurged on a new TB and the issue is still there,it's very unlikely to be the problem, but to save yourself yet more problems and possibly money, why not get it checked out by someone who knows what to look for.

OK cheers, I found a garage called C&R Enterprises which aren't that far away (not sure if you have heard of them) that seem to be highly rated across VW forums so have booked it there for next week on thur :).

That's a much better way to go.
