Is The S4 Market Really Slow At The Mo?

Thanks for the reply

Would be interested to see a similar car for £4k?

Had mine advertised for 5k for a while, will let it go for £4500 on 20" s8 alloys with new Falken tyres or 4k on standard Avus wheels, good running engine, mapped, de-cated, full service history and a lot more...

Have you tried trading it in, cars for cash places as I've been offered more than that and traders have seen my car too!

Too many "no - this / that / next thing" which suggest you're going to be a pain to deal with. Me, I'd want to "test pilot" the thing before I bought it and I'd certainly want to "kick the tyres". If it's not selling, and clearly it isn't as you're asking for advice here, then the price is also too high. I'm sure it's a lovely car - it's also a fairly specialist car which does less than 20 mpg.

Taking all feedback in
That's fair enough about the "no"

I could keep until pre summer next year, but as with most cars they tend to depreciate with time?

Car's depreciate with time but 10+ year old convertibles tend to fluctuate massively depending on time of year too (and I'll probably end up getting a convertible in the winter ).

True on the above
Maybe some hold out for summer to sell, but that's with more competition

I'm in no rush by any means but would be nice for it to go to a good home and used a bit more

Don't want to burst any bubbles, but split grill Audi's look much older than they really are. Nice car, But nigh on 7 grand is a lot of money for what's essentially a few generations old.

P.S: a private plate might help the buyer justify the purchase, as regular folk won't know how old it is at a glance.

We Buy any Car quoted me £5285 for this car. I hear tell they also manage to knock the offer down once they see it in the flesh.

I see the add is updated - if I may offer another suggestion? You still say "no silly offers" - of course you dont want silly offers, but you can just say no to them. At least they might serve as a starting point. Another suggestion is to delete "2 children seat fit fine in the back as I use mine with it for the school and nursery runs at times".

That's sending a subliminal message that it's a family car - which, clearly, it isn't. Is your market young parents - or more the "enthusiast" market, like yourself? Or at least someone with the cash to both buy and run it - which is generally more the young professional / no kids / older, more mature person than the family guy.

It also says that it's been used for lots of short runs and we all know that's a bad thing.

Also "Little use as we use family car more often than not, hence sale" says the same - but also says "hey, I need to sell this" - as indeed does " Reason for selling, putting the funds towards main family car". So all the keen-to-bag-a-bargain types will wade in with the silly offers you don't want because clearly you need to sell it. If I was in the market for one of these I'd be starting way low knowing you need to sell the car because the family is taking precedence and the toy has to go. (See what I'm doing there?).

You reinforce this with the "part-ex" section. You'd like a nice fast BM but you still, clearly, are in need of funds - "cash my way". If you can't delete this, then delete the entire ad and start again.

Anyway, why bother telling us why you are selling? You'd be better saying you wanted to sell to buy something bigger and more expensive! Psychologically, anyway. Just leave it out - less is more.

Just take all the extraneous excuses and justifications out - the message you are sending is that you are having trouble selling this as you're trying too hard to justify a high(ish) price and really, really, need to move it on. Just focus on all the good things - and the facts.

I do rather like your amendment about how practical a soft top is in winter tho. And isn't 4x4 such a boon in the snow and ice??? Just a thought.
