Hi all,
I have always wanted to know what the description would/should be for 5 spoke alloys such as these:

There are so many different styles of alloys out there that I find it a little bewildering sometimes, when all I want is some nice simple ones like in the image above (I know they are 'Antera' but I mean just the simple 5 spoke style as opposed to any other kind).

Please can I ask what the description should be for the style of alloys such as those?

Am I being stupid here?

Never seen them before on an Audi

Well I don't mean those specific wheels but just the style?

I had RS6 ones which are easy to clean and also show off nice brakes

A few new ones around now but I feel the older styles go with the older cars,Audi spending ££££'s on R&D cannot be wrong.

Thank you both for not humiliating me. ;)

Regarding voorhees' image, thanks for that, those are similar but I see that they have ridges (for want of a better word) whereas the ones in the image I posted are smooth. I'm sorry I cannot describe them any better.

Also, while I'm at it, please can I ask what inch wheels I can get away with on my standard 8L before any modding would need to take place? Could I fit 18" on?

18's do look good but what model car ? As for the ridges/lines I guess its in the taste

2002 1.9 TDI 8L model. Yes, I get what you mean about taste (I don't seem to have any, apparently) ;)

No I meant we are all different it would be dull if we were all the same

Ha ha, No I meant my gf thinks that I have no taste, ha ha.
So, would 18" wheels be ok for my car and is there any advantage of 18" over, say, 17"? I heard it can be difficult to get tyres for 17"?

You'll have more of a variety of choice of tyres with 18" wheels, they look better imo and I would imagine they will handle better (I'm yet to get 18s for my car so I can't really comment on that)

Oz Polaris are similar to voorhees post but no lines

Difficult to get tyres for 17's??? who told you that rubbish LOL...

Not sure what else to tell you dude... 17's tend to be lighter and can make the car feel better handling... 18's will have the say rolling radius with the right tyres but are a little heavier and can make the car feel a little less responsive on turn in etc... but.... this is hugely subjective despite this and while Prawn swears by 17" on his track weapon I myself like my 18's on my OEM++ cruiser... I notice the difference swapping between my 17" Avus winters and my 18" RSTT's but while I like the way the car feels on the 17's I prefer the way my car looks on the 18's so that is why I run 18's... its your choice essentially

18's with the lower profile tyres will be a bit harsher on UK roads over the 17's but again thats personal preference
