Bkd Head

Hi guys,

Hello to the Audi world.
I got myself a A3 sportback finally.
Got the car over a week ago from a old man and he basically done me over!!!!
The car keeps losing coolant and throwing it back out the expansion tank on heavy load.
Changed the thermostate but am fearing it's the Head that's gone.
It's a BKD engine and I have found out they r terrible with porous heads.
So getting it checked 2moro and was wondering if anyone has a head for sale?
Audi A3 2.0 TDI BkD.
The head has a B next to it.

I've just started going through coolant, on my BKD.. I'm hoping its not the head...

Unfortunately, been there, done that. The A heads are the worst for porosity, B are a close second with the C casting being the one that is sold as a replacement.
If it is up near 100,000 miles and going through a lot of coolant, it is almost certainly on the way out.
A new one is about £300.00 from Audi, plus the rebuild costs.

Damn mine is 130000 so I guess it's the head.
You say £300 from Audi?
Ppl said its £1500 for head?

£300.00 is for the casting only, from Audi.
I was about £900.00 all in, plus the garage bill to reassemble everything.

Put k seal in it might sort it out for abit u til you have the funds to sort it out properly
