trip mileage display

Hi guy's, I'm wondering if anyone has came across this problem before.
I gave my mate my car to read the codes as my airbag light was showing.
He sorted that problem but now, my trip mileage is showing dEF where the trip mileage should be.
Anybody any ideas why this has suddenly changed.
My car is a 53 plate avf engined avant.

No codes are stored in the instruments.

Looking it up on google.........That error code usually appears when there is a software error in the instument cluster regarding the milage or immobiliser after a modification has been made and usually when using a non genuine cable.

Ok thanks. I'll try and find out what code reader he used. No idea why he'd try and change anything in the instruments.

Code reader that was used was a super vag k+ tool. Seems it's able to alter mileages and retrieve immo codes.
