S3 speedo clock cluster in a3

Hi guys just a quick on I have a 2000 reg audi a3 and my clocks burnt out I have been told if I have immo removed from ecu I can fit s3 dials as plugs are same

has anyone done this or can shed some light on situation thanks

I think you have to have the unit recoded to your cpu I did look in to swoping the clocks in my a3 but it was to much hassle I'm sure i found a site that people said you can buy decoded units but don't quote me on that I would try and see if you can get yous repaired or get the same unit from a a3 with the same engine code as yours.
