Hi, I've recently bought a 2001 Audi A4 b6 3.0L quattro.

The fuel gauge and mileage range goes up and down.
In the Evening it'll show I have 50 miles left, then in the morning it'll show 5 miles then 0 after driving for 2 minutes.

I tried resetting the fuel gauge by removing the fuses for the fuel pump & instrument cluster, turn the ignition on and then off, put the fuses back in. This works but only for a short time.

Could it be the instrument cluster or a dodgy fuel sender?

Could be worth taking a look at the connections on the sender unit, after all the sender works on a variable resistance, so a poor connection could alter a resistance reading. Worth a look!

I have the quattro so would the access panel be in the boot or under the rear seats? And is it on the drivers side or passenger side?
Cheers
