What's the actual size of the rim?

I have the a4 s line rims et43 and I get a little rubbing on the rear, I should have et 45 really I think but they came along cheap.

Trying to find out

THANKYOU for replying and helping.

The tyres are 255/35, is that a problem? Sorry I'm not the most clued up.

Ha neither am I but I'm pretty certain that that's a no go , I have 225s et43 so yours will be even wider by loads .

Please please could I ask for other opinions and advise? Many thanks indeed.

It'll fit but I'd go 215 tyres to eliminate any rubbing.

255's are a no go completely.

cheers Smurf. I currently have the same wheels on (im just getting new ones now, not sure of existing offset) but they are 235/35/19 and they're ok.

Can 235/35/19 tyres fit on an alloy that currently has 255 ones on it?

Sorry I'm confused.

Would really appreciate some confirmation if you're able to help anyone.

Just in the meantime here's my car :) (a pic for the hell of it)

Can 235/35/19 tyres fit on an alloy that currently has 255 ones on it? Also is 8.5J ok for a 2005 A3 with ET43 thanks

You can stretch tires yes, how much by I'm not sure but I would imagine those will go.. It's a very obvious look though which if you're not into will be hard to ignore!

My wheels are 8.5J and Ive got 225's on there and they are offset et45, been fine for me and I don't exactly drive it slow.

Check my thread and there's a few photos of how it looks

Would 235's fit in your wheels mate? Would they be better? (What is the difference)

Also what is the difference please between 8 and 8.5'J'

Thankyou pal

They will fit better however people report rubbing with tyres any wider than 225.

Basically in wheel terms "J" means width in inches.

So, 8J is 8 inch wide
8.5J is 8.5 inch wide.

You can see what it looks like by simply searching google images for "235 tyre on 8.5J" normally brings up results and you can see what it looks like.
