Finally got the finger out to crack on with finishing my DTM bumper. I had lost heart in it and it was for sale for a while but it not selling and managing to pick up the missing bits I was needing was the push I needed to finish it.
The hardest part to find was the carbon splitter but eventually one turned up in Germany and was dead cheap compared to others I'd seen. When it arrived could believe my luck as it was in great shape with only one chip out the clear coat. A bit epoxy resin then sanded back and polished made it an easy repair.
The smaller 4 side grills were practically impossible to find so went to Audi for a price, £99 delivered so was quite happy with that but wasn't really impressed with the mesh in them, more of a hatch than honeycomb. As I had planned to cut down my RS4 grill to fit the SE sized grill of the DTM so I wanted them to match. Luckily a guy local to me who had bought a set of my wheels had mentioned he had a set of new RS4 fog grills so got bought them from him for a good price(cheers Jamie). This meant I was also able to keep my fog lights instead of deleting them for the DTM. A couple of nights with the dremel chopping out the DTM mesh and loosing the RS4 surrounds then combing the DTM frame and RS4 mesh and fog light surround left me with what I wanted.
Next was the most nervous part, I was a bit scared of chopping and potentially wasting a ridiculously priced piece of plastic but it had to be done. It turned out quite easy, chop the lower section off a SE grill and remove the slats then fill the holes they left. Remove the lower section from the RS4 and resize then glue on the left over bit from the SE one using the SE chrome bit to align and secure. Some plastidip got rid of the chrome on the rings and surround.
Mounting the fogs into a bumper that wasn't designed for them wasn't the easiest but patience, a dremel and some time got them done. Got a couple of wee bits to tidy up then I'll be done, my only issue now is the weather. I'm not so keen on putting it on the car with the weather we're having now so may be spring until I put it on permanently but itching to see it on the car so will be a having a trial fit session up at my work(heated work shop).
Some pics,
This pic shows the size difference of the grill(had also dabbled with a cupra splitter before the original one turned up)
Fog lights grills done,
Nervous chopping,
And done!!
