Cabriolet rear number plate lights

Tried to remove rear number plate lights at weekend. got bolts off ok then couldn't get plinth off around key.
Can anyone enlighten me as to how to remove this part before start to loose the plot

Did you try the bolts underneath the lining inside the boot or the actual light bolts?

yes got the bolts off it was the key part that was holding the light mount in

I don't have a problem getting bolts off its just that they key barrel is stuck in the surround. need to know how I can get the barrel out to then remove the panel.
