My Audi S3 is down as BW9 therefore I'm told to expect delivery towards the end of March.

I am not trading in my current car, an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Cloverleaf, so I am in two minds over what to do.

1. Advertise the Alfa privately now and hire a car in the interim.
2. Approach a dealer closer to March to sell attempting to time-in with picking my Audi up.

Obviously I would get slightly more for 1 but may have to hire. I may also risk not selling in time.

2 would be easier but I'd get less.

What have others done previously?

I traded my A3 in when I ordered the S3 and managed without a car for a while, but that's easy if you're retired.
Wait until your new car is almost ready then advertise on Autotrader or similar might be a way out of it.

I'm looking at option 2 for mine just generally less faff and hassle especially if there's any finance in your current car.

Option 2 is appealing and I am clear of finance. My other issue is I don't have a specialist Alfa dealer within 30 miles!

I would think that selling now and renting in the meantime would be more expensive that trading in with the dealer.
There have been lots of comments on here that trade in can often be a reasonable route to take, specially considering the convenience. I got more with trade in that webuyanycar. And I got a guaranteed offer from the dealer when I placed the order (32 weeks before getting the car!)

I sold in October and have been walking to work ever since. My car is BW7 but now I'm borrowing a car from a family member as I need to visit a few places this month. It's saved me a fortune in fuel and I'm much fitter from walking however I've been visiting the pub more frequently as its on my walk home!
