Car overheated when Idling.

Hey guys.

My friends A4 is overheating when idling. When he drives, the temp goes down, and rise again when he stops. Today he said to me that it came smoke from the bonet when he was taking a fairy. What can be the problem?

Coolant levels correct?
Radiator fans working?

He said he refuel the coolant tank. I can ask him to check the radiator. Can get back to you afterwards!

temperature dropping when moving and rising when stationary is typical thermostat fault.

That probably wouldnt cause the overheating though.

What temperature values does it get to?

He sent me a picture ones, but I don't have it right now. But its in between 90 and 120 on the instrument.

ok in that case it must be a broken cooling fan.
