Not had a great day today, so decided to get a Loba HPFP slightly earlier than planned and cheer myself up. Other than an updated map this was the last piece in the stage 2+ mod list. Once it arives and I fit it, Rick at Unicorn will be getting a call :)

Then it'll be time to sort the standard suspension out and do something about that standard front grill.

You can't beat a bit of spending to make your day better.
I must have crap days most days as I seem to spend a fortune!

How much do these cost @leshkin

I decided to go for the complete Loba pump for £575 from GNJ Motorsport, rather than Autotech uprated internals as I don't trust myself to take my OEM pump appart and put it back together without having a few parts left over.

Are you fitting your self ? Its actually a very easy job :) i upgraded my pump at the weekend with autotech internals. I made one mistake :(when removing the bottom brass coupling with the steel fuel line attached the aluminium crush washer fell out of it and disapeared into the never ? we spent 2 hours trying to find it but its gone :keule:

I had to use some PTFE to put it back together whilst the new washer is on order....

So watch out for that mate if you fit it yourself ;)

Thats not bad actually 250 quid extra and you get a complete new pump with some guarantees. I followed the Autotech instuctions and they are over complicated ! the are a few youtube vids that make it far simpler ! wish i would of followed those instead...

Thanks for the tip! I've read up a few guides on doing the internals and was tempted by the significantly lower cost of doing just the internals, but decided on keeping the stock pump and putting it back before I come to sell the car. I suspect that the uprated pump will still fetch decent money for some time :)

Haha, nothing like a bit of shopping therapy! Especially if it relates to cars or gadgets :)

You mean to say that you do not have a "black ops" fund for large car mods?

Mrs leshkin is oblivious as to the true cost of some of the mods mainly down to lack of interest. If she does not ask, I do not tell

I have a long standing formula of dividing the price of anything I buy by a factor between 2 and 10.

It works pretty well, and my wife has no interest in cars or hifi.

If I remember, these old beasts were around £200....or at least that was the quoted price.

That impulse buy made me and E-ON feel a lot better a few yrs ago.

The funny thing is when it's mapped for S2+ next week she is going to poo herself! It's her daily runner to work.I have a boring company car :-S with a massive 130bhp.

Come to think about it I'm going to poo myself I could be looking at 3 times the power of the diesel bus! :-D

I've had one car she wouldn't even sit in,and I thought that was just great....when it's too scary for your passengers,it's getting close, and as per Walter Rohrl's quote, when it's too scary for yourself,it's just right.

Now that's a man after my own heart.
If I'm not asked,I don't tell, and if I'm asked,I think in terms of another currency.

''Black Ops'' Fund i like that lol

My Mrs didn't know how fast the car is with just the CAI and a full BCS system. I forgot about that and suddenly dropped a gear to wizz through a gap in traffic at a roundabout... The horror movie-like scream that she managed to let out, quickly reminded me to not do that again with her in the car for fear of being discovered :)

My 4yo daughter absolutely loves it though! Takes after her dad, I guess :)

Thats a good point.

My wife truly hated my old Escort Cosworth, like Lucifer himself had just parked in the driveway, and the way it spat flames but the kids loved it.
Funny old world isn't it!

Whenever my other half asks me how much something costs, I get the original figure, half it then half it again.

Just need to hope that if something happened, god forbid, she doesn't sell the bits on the car for how much I told her they cost!

Power amps, Alex?? :)

They are indeed.

Another impulse buy from a while ago,but did the trick of making the day better.
Non nom nom. Always fancied some Krell monoblocks myself, but I'd have to remortgage to afford them!

I always fancied a set of Rotel Monoblocks with b & w nautilus speakers. We can all dream :-(

I bought those old beauties as they easily double as room heaters.

Like the business with dividing the cost by 10....

It works.
